Have breakfast at the hotel.
Then the first stop is the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (since 12th Century). This complex includes the South Gate (with its huge statues describing the churning of the ocean of milk), Phimeanakas, Bayon Temple (with 54 towers with over 200 smiling shades of Avolokitesvara), the Royal Enclosure, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King.
The most interesting part will be Angkor Wat, the typical example of classical Khmer art and architecture masterpiece since the 12th Century in the aftrenoon. It covers over 81 hectares, which is the same size as the Imperial Palace in Beijing, China. Its iconic five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag. You will have chance to enjoy a spectacular view of the Western Baray and Angkor Wat, especially the charming sunset in Phnom Bakheng (one of two hills dominating the plain of Angkor).
Stay for another night at your hotel in Siem Reap.
